Conservation Status

Missing (Weston, 1995:86 [as 'rare or extinct']; Silcock et al., 2019:SM:9 [as 'Possibly extant']) or Extinct (Humphreys et al., 2019; Weston et al., 2020; POWO, 2023)

Last record: 31 July 1802 (Weston, 1995:86) or later; pre-1895 (Silcock et al., 2019:SM:9); 1901 (Weston et al., 2020)

IUCN RedList status: Extinct

"Only known from two specimens collected from same general area; has not been seen since despite some targeted searching in a largely unmodified but poorlycollected area; further searches warranted... Peter Weston spent a day searching in January 1990 at Bool Creek, where Brown landed near Sandy Creek, and collected P.virgata but failed to find P.prostrata; Fraser Island quite well collected, but not the remote Sandy Cape"

(Silcock et al., 2019:SM:9)

Distribution

Sandy Cape, northern tip of Fraser Island, Queensland, Australia
